Westchester County Association of Local Agents, Inc. filed their original certificate of incorporation in the Office of the Secretary of the State on the 18th day of October, 1928.
The corporation was composed of and organized exclusively as an association of licensed insurance agents or licensed insurance brokers.
In 1948, the legal name was changed to Westchester County Association of Insurance Agents Inc. It has since been changed and is now referred to as Independent Insurance Agents of Westchester County.
Historically, the Association has participated in legislative events such as L-Day in Albany and IIABA’s National Legislative event in Washington, D.C. Local meetings with legislators are held from time to time to discuss issues affecting the insurance industry.
At one time, the Westchester Independent Insurance Agents Assn included 3 local associations: White Plains, New Rochelle and Mt Vernon, which were co-extensive with the County Association. As the issues that concerned the members became transparent it became more effective to merge the local associations with the County Association .
The Association was always concerned with educating their agents, which brought about the birth of E-Day in 1966. Each year hundreds of agents from Westchester, Putnam and Rockland County came to Westchester to attend concurrent education sessions, listen to speakers and participate in panels with company executives to update all members on the current issues. EDAY includes a trade show, which brings various vendors that offer products and services to members. This event is supported by the sponsorship of our company and vendor affiliates along with membership participation.
